The Associated Equipment Co. Ltd. was established in 1912 to produce omnibuses primarily for the General Omnibus Co Ltd. The company was most noted for its 34-seat doubledeck open-top vehicles, offering a 32.7 hp, 4-cylinder engine or a 28.9 hp petrol engine. These vehicles featured wood and steel framed chassis. In 1915, an experimental single-deck vehicle with an all-steel chassis appeared. And, during World War I, AEC produced over 10,000 3/4-ton trucks, making the company the largest British supplier of "subsidy" vehicles.
